Robot Building
June 25, 2001
Conor Bracken sent me this photo of the Robot Building off of Sathorn Road in downtown Bangkok. It is a good example of some of the (in)famous architecture of Bangkok in the late 1980s-early 1990s.

Storm Blowing In
June 18, 2001
The evening of May 9, 2001, a spectacular storm swirled through town. The rain coming down looked like a massive tornado on the horizon. The photo below shows the same view ten minutes later. More of my Bangkok weather shots are here.
Wat Khaek
June 11, 2001
Outside of Nong Khai in the northeast of Thailand is an extensive and strange collection of towering Hindu-Buddhist figures created out of steel-reinforced cement. This is Wat Phuttama Makasamakhorn, more commonly known as Wat Khaek. Another photo from Wat Khaek is here.
A man and his dog
May 14, 2001
I was taking photos of the Rama VIII Bridge construction on the Chao Phraya River and the ferry to cross the river pulled up. The boat pilot stopped for a moment while he was waiting for more passengers and proudly showed me his shipboard assistant--a little dog.
Watch out for cattle!
May 7, 2001
This sign outside of Songkhla in the south of Thailand warns motorists to beware of cattle grazing along the road.
