Smile Local airline liveries

I have to say I liked the old one better..... compare old and new. Also note the new fonts used for the word "Thai".

By the way, Lao Aviation (now Lao Airlines) changed their looks as well, away from the rather dull stripe design, to a more lively floral motif ........

Still fondly remember my exciting flights with this legendary (read: infamous) carrier in December 2002, from Vientiane to Xiengkhouang in an old Yunshui Y-7 (Chinese re-engineered Antonov-24; interior looks something like this) and back through dark storm clouds and rain in an ATR-72 (the one pictured in the Lao Aviation examples above), which had arrived with a delay of more than 1 hour from Louangphabang, subjecting the passengers to an inconvenient wait in the cold and wind at the 'airport' (read: shack) up on the Plain of Jars.

I think the Thai livery looks quite good - far better than BA's floral attempts.

The idea of the new one is not bad, and I like that they've kept the logo and placed it on purple, but the execution is poor -- it feels off-balance -- and the font is indeed horrible.

It's also probably more than just a coincidence that the new Thai style resembles Nok's first plane more than just a little:

Which, incidentally, I flew on last Friday

Sorry, where does it resemble Nok?

However, it baffles me how Orient Thai's design is almost identical to British Airways'! One could be mistaken for thinking that the Brits are using the Thai flag........ though they were apparently first with this design, but you can hardly accuse Orient Thai of being copycats, as the flag fits a Thai plane much better!

@The Enforcer:

Which floral design did you mean? This one? Or this one? Well, the latter is truly awful (though hardly 'floral')......

* White-purple-red-yellow/gold color scheme
* Purple tail with logo in the center
* "Wraparound" of colors around tail
* Wings and center of body are white

Admittedly little chance of confusion, at least as long as you can see the beak , but I'd wager a guess that the same designers are to thank/blame for both.
