MP3 audiotours

Siam Soundtrek under the direction of the Sathirakoses Nagapradipa Foundation, is assembling a series of MP3 audiotours of historic neighborhoods and sites in Bangkok. We hope that these walking tours will serve to protect and preserve the neglected temples, shrines, and monuments throughout the city.

We are collecting tour content from as many sources as possible. If you have information concerning any of the sites listed below, please go to the forum and post it in the appropriate thread. We will include all relevant information in the tours. If you are a writer, musician, or artist with works related to the sites we would be more than happy to promote them.

If you have any questions, please post them here.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Sulak Sivaraksa
Director, Sathirakoses Nagapradipa Foundation

SITES: Wat Mahan, Chao Pho Seua, Samphraeng, Bamrung Muang, Wat Suthat, Brahmin Chapel, Giant Swing, Wat Theptida, Baan Baat, Wat Saket, Mahakan Fort, Loha Prasat, Rajadamnoen Avenue, Democracy Monument, October 14th Memorial

On my homepage I posted a similar "Virtual Rattanakosin Walking Tour" based on a book that was published in 2540 by "TOA Group of Companies". This book can be read online at: www.seameo.org. I illustrated the tour with own photos. (Rem.: as a resident of Germany my pages are in German language )
Maybe this helps.

Can't register on the website?

Thinking that Siam Soundtreks looks really cool and knowing that I'll have some visitors in town soon, I went to the website and attempted to register online. The links don't seem to work and they just keep directing back to the main login page.

Disappointing. I'll explore more.

Mp3 Tour Launch

Apologies for the broken links on www.soundtrek.org. Things are working more smoothly now.

Our first tour is finished and available for download on our website. We will also have Mp3 players available for rental at the Rim Khob Faa bookstore across from the Democracy Monument within the first week of June.

Bangkok Wiki

Also, we have developed an online wiki (similar to wikipedia) to collect information on Thai historical sites. If you would like to contribute to these public pages, please click visit www.soundtrek.org/wikiwalks. You can add to and edit all the information found there.

The wiki content will be used to create Mp3 audiotours intended to preserve heritage sites and promote those parts of Bangkok that most people will never see.
