Was quite surprised to see the expression "e dok thong" ("you little slut") on 2Bangkok story today.
Fortunately I learnt its meaning very early during my years in Thailand and thus avoided many an embarassing, or worse, situation.
If I recall correctly, Gerald Sparrow also used the expression in one of his several books about life in Thailand. Think it might have been "The Golden Orchid" which itself is a good read. His other books "Not Wisely but Too Well" and "The Star Sapphires" also worth reading.
Sparrow was a judge at the International Court in Bangkok and lived in Thailand from the early 1930's to about 1954. His book "The Golden Orchid" gives an interesting insight to life during the Japanese occupation of WW2.
