As they will demolish Lumphini Boxing Stadium following the development of the Suan Lum Night Bazaar area, now is the time to visit and have a last glimpse at the legendary (?) venue before it's gone for good. Here are a a few photos I took on 11 February 2005. I managed to sneak in at mid-day when nobody was around. Strange atmosphere when the arena is empty - felt a bit like visiting an abandoned factory building or something like that. I still remember vividly how I saw my first muay thai bouts there in April 1999...........

And I found one interesting thing: they put up a board next to the ticket counter (pics 4 and 5) that tells about the construction of the new Lumphini Stadium at Soi Nang Linchee 3, Thung Mahamek, Yannawa.
The details given:
*area of the land plot: 12 rai, 3 ngan, 88.63 square wa (=20,750 sq.m)
*construction started: 25 July 2002
*scheduled completion: end of 2004
*budget: 39,870,000 Baht
*capacity: 6000 spectators
*car park capacity: 380
I wonder when that will really open, because as of February, they still had fights at the old venue.
