View Full Version : Nice views of Bangkok from the Peninsula Hotel
Just came across this weblog (http://www.kiat.net/index.php) while searching for some cool Bangkok skyline pictures. The blogger visited Bangkok a couple of times over the past few years. His last visit, in early 2005, he stayed at the Peninsula Hotel (http://www.kiat.net/pix/asia/04/bangkok/photos/photo_3.html) and took some breathtakingly beautiful pictures of Bangkok skyline, like this (http://www.kiat.net/pix/asia/05/bangkok/photos/photo38.html), this (http://www.kiat.net/pix/asia/05/bangkok/photos/photo39.html), this (http://www.kiat.net/pix/asia/05/bangkok/photos/photo40.html), this (http://www.kiat.net/pix/asia/05/bangkok/photos/photo50.html), this (http://www.kiat.net/pix/asia/05/bangkok/photos/photo56.html), this (http://www.kiat.net/pix/asia/05/bangkok/photos/photo57.html), this (http://www.kiat.net/pix/asia/05/bangkok/photos/photo48.html), this (http://www.kiat.net/pix/asia/05/bangkok/photos/photo65.html), this (http://www.kiat.net/pix/asia/05/bangkok/photos/photo63.html), this (http://www.kiat.net/pix/asia/05/bangkok/photos/photo64.html), this (http://www.kiat.net/pix/asia/05/bangkok/photos/photo66.html), this (http://www.kiat.net/pix/asia/05/bangkok/photos/photo67.html), this (http://www.kiat.net/pix/asia/05/bangkok/photos/photo69.html), and this (http://www.kiat.net/pix/asia/05/bangkok/photos/photo70.html). Or you can browse through these index pages, 2005 (http://www.kiat.net/pix/asia/05/bangkok/index.html) and 2004 (http://www.kiat.net/pix/asia/04/bangkok/index.html).
Enjoy! :)

Another one (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/2c/Bangkok4.jpg) on Wikipedia.Yeah, nice shot this one (the others, too), All Seasons Place, looking north towards Makkasan, Din Daeng and Ratchadaphisek.
BTW, does anyone know the name of the building (condo, presumably) on the left - the one with the pinnacle? At nighttime the top is illuminated, and from a distance you could be mistaken to think it's the Golden Mount......
I always wondered what its name is? It seems to be right at the corner of Witthayu and Ploenchit.

If it's at the corner of Wittayu and PloenChit, it must be the Centre Point at Wireless Road. It's a serviced apartment building. It's a very nice place, I stayed up there for about 4 months, this year.
It's a full service just like a hotel, but less expensive...(not sure how much less expensive though). There seems to be a lot of those serviced apartment in Bangkok; you need to check around to find the best deal. But I think if you want to stay longer than 2 or 3 days or more than one week, a serviced apartment is a lot better than a hotel.
I like the place because of it's located just next to the BTS train station. Since I don't have a car, I used BTS a lot while I was staying at the Centre Point.
