View Full Version : VietnamWarEra Maps
A lot of maps that probably date from the Vietnam War era:-
Laos - Maps (http://www.mekongexpress.com/laos/general/laos_map_index.htm)
Vietnam - Maps (http://www.mekongexpress.com/vietnam/general/viet_map_index.htm)
Vietnam Vets are a great source of aging maps. These 1:250,000 scans of a whole theater of war-affected countries really look like they have been out in the foxhole. Images are not of the highest resolution, but the website owner rightly wants to keep copyright. A lot of work went into this. Great site!

Just take your pick with this one!

http://www.nexus.net/~911gfx/sea-ao.htmlWow. Simply magnificent! You are right, what a lot of work must have gone into this. Looks great, neatly organized, easy to use. Two thumbs up!
This may also conjure up a few memories. I understand it was pretty mosquito-ridden if the aircon in the prefab barracks failed.

The "Map Room 1" right down the page has some of the best maps I've seen.
Take your coffee with you. You'll be there for hours :)

When I first posted this link I was using a dial-in connection. What I failed to realize, because of the slow speed of loading for the 'cover' image for each map, is that if you keep on clicking on the various maps, you eventually get to a very readable jpeg image of one eighth of a paper map sheet scan:-
1) A series of cover sheet images showing a huge range of US military maps (1:250,000) produced in conjunction with the individual cartographic depts of 4 countries. http://www.nexus.net/~911gfx/sea-ao.html
2) A cover sheet for each paper map
http://www.nexus.net/~911gfx/nd4712.html
3) The website owner has split each paper sheet into eight scans. Click on one eighth.
http://www.nexus.net/~911gfx/mapnd4712.html
4) The actual map scan.

Each map has a warning that it should be destroyed when no longer needed. Glad he didn't!
