A map-ordering service. However, I'm not advocating that you use it to buy with expensive US Dollars for products available in local bookshops.

There are some very useful Royal Thai Survey Department indexes (Showing those that are available, due to security considerations) and samples that will help you to figure our what maps to buy by post or at RTSD itself.

There's also an intriguing series of Russian Soviet Era Maps of Thailand. Unfortunately, no samples. Which is a pity, because I always wanted to know where Ad Carabao lived before he got into energy drinks. ;)

There's also an intriguing series of Russian Soviet Era Maps of Thailand. Unfortunately, no samples. Those Soviet/Russian General Staff Maps are also available from German outdoor specialist Därr (http://www.daerr.de) for 15.95 EUR/sheet:

general info about the maps (http://www.daerr.de/Landkarten/russ/Allgemeine%20Infos%20zu%20RussKart.html?-session=shop:FDAD7D8624CEB80A22DD7D3E6A047CEF)
South East Asia index (http://www.daerr.de/Landkarten/russ/originale/100/Asien_SO_100.html)
Thailand index (http://www.daerr.de/Landkarten/russ/eigene/Asien/Thailand.htm)

Actually I once bought one. They are not bad! Helps if you can read Russian, though...... (I can, as I learned the language 3 years, for fun - unfortunately I've forgotten 99% of my vocabulary.)
