I always find these Myanmar sites fascinating.

I think we can safely say that the 'Pariah State' policy of the decadent west (either left or neo-conservative) has had no visibly positive effect on Tatmadaw; even if the ASEAN appeasement also seems deeply flawed.

This obviously government-sponsored cyberganda site seems unable to buy a better camera than my own Box Brownie Digital. Do all Tatmadaw sites use the same webcam? Maybe a quick whip-round amongst those rich generals on the golfcourse might buy them a nice middle-range Sony.

I always have the feeling that Myanmar is actually well-advised to steer its own course, away from the conventions of the affluent west or the smugness of the tiger economies. And I doubt our media are showing us some of the more positive developments. That said, I'm sure there are some rather grim realities lurking behind these images and their positive prose.
