I am being an idiot I realise but we have a Phra Pok Klao Bridge and a Rama VII Bridge - wasn't Phra Pok Klao also Rama VII?

Yep the Same King Prajadhipok ... However, the different names are due to the following reasons:
1) Rama 6 + Rama 7 Bridge ... Don't forget that Rama 6 bridge was OPENED on jan 1, 1927 by Kign Prajadhipok so the name "Rama 7" is the most appropriated name for the new bridge which pair with rama 6 Bridge.
2) Memorail bridge + Phra Pok Klao Bridge ... YOu should NEVER forget that Memorail Bridge was opened on April 6, 1932 by King Prajadhipok ... so the name of the king in Thai is the most appropriated name for the bridge whciyh pair with Memorai lbridge ...
