The front page article says:

LED signs have been installed over the automatic turnstiles with up-to-the-minute info about BTSC including accidents or the delays.

Installed already!? I last rode the Skytrain on Friday and didn't see any...

The skybridge in Silom looks promising, although I'm not holding my breath for it to be completed. Any news on how they will connect up the BTS Asok and MRTA Sukhumvit stations?

Since the subway stairs open directly at the foot of a flight of stairs to the Skytrain, I would guess any further connection there is not a priority...

Hi, Khun Bangkok,

Which is the nearest Skytrain station to Banyan Tree Hotel Bangkok ?

How long does it take to walk from Banyan Tree Hotel Bangkok to Lumphini Tower and Lumphini Subway station ?

Dear Kh. Ganyc,

SKYTRAIN: Sala Daeng. Exit on Silom Complex side, walk up to Th. Sala Daeng itself and at the Sathorn junction you can use the u-Turn junction to cross to Ban Yan tree. Total distance some 700m.

SUNWAY: Lumpini (exit 2) is top of Sathorn some 600m to Ban Yan tree.

LUMPINI TOWER: This is a further 500m up Rama IV from Lumpini Exit 2.

Hope this helps.

Here's an excerpt from last Sunday's Stickman Weekly (www.stickmanbangkok.com), 24 October 2004:

There I was on the skytrain, a million miles away, when the damned thing went the wrong way. Yep, you read that right, the skytrain went the wrong way! OK, now you really think Stick has lost it, don't you? It was early Monday morning and no, I was not hung over. At approximately 8:40 AM the skytrain left the Rachadamri station and headed for Siam station. A recorded announcement (as opposed to the usual driver live commentary) announced that the train was heading to MoChit station (which is on different line). I heard the announcement but I didn't really think about it until the train arrived at the Siam station on the wrong side of the tracks. Instead of heading to National Stadium, it followed the track up the Sukumvit line and the next stop was Rachatewi. So, the train must have switched tracks somewhere between Rachadamri and Siam stations....but why?! This has never happened with me on it before, and is not marked on the maps. My best guess is that at rush hour they run extra trains and this one was headed back to the terminus at MoChit to sleep.

Khun Wisarut (or others), any idea on this?

I've seen trains running backwards like this several times, but don't know why they do it...

this sounds like a good idea that was wrongly implemented.
I for one would love to see express trains running from the 'end-of-the-line' stations or the busiest stations (ie. Saladaeng, Asok) to Siam, with none or few stops in between.

Riding the BTS the other week I was thinking whether or not the LED displays have ever been used for BTS announcements or service updates.

Also, the Flat screens TVs on platforms at some BTS stations could serve the same purposes but I have only ever seen copious ads and movie previews over the last year since their installation.

BTS should at least flash the minutes until the next train between ads.

Has anyone ever been at a BTS station with LED screens or the flatscreen TVs and seen a service update or an announcement?
