Tuan Ijud,

Hope that it won't end up in mess and extince as BKk Tram (1894-1968) .... During the late 1950's many Bangkokians recognized that BKk Tram needed to be replaced by somethign better such as the Trolley Bus or so... However, the Bangkok Trolly Bus got miscarriaged .... not realized ....

However, the trolley bus routes have become
the raw data for 1979 master plan .... and 1984 Lavalin ...
but still miscarriage ... Not until 1999 that the replacement
for BKK Tram has become a reality ..... Skytrain ...

Khun Wisarut,

I hope it won't mess up too as it is not the 'old-school' type of tram but I still prefer having another underground monorail or LRT line rather than tampering the roads to lay down the tramways. BTW I like the proposal to put the tram route at the side of the canal in Bangkok but it was scrapped after the change of government right?

Tram along Chong Nonsee canal is the elevated tram (elevated LRT) ... However, the project hasn't been realized despite of teh fact that the project has been approved (in shorter version -
Chong Nonsee - Sathupradit) ... Too bad, the demands from Northern Suburbs are so high that the extension goes North (Mochit - Ratchayothin - Kaset) will be substitute to Rama III
extension ....

Circle line tram alogn Rattanakosin has been proposed by BMA
but hasn't started yet ... wait unti the Soutehrn Exension of Subway reach Rattanakosin Island ....

Thanks for the info guys... BTW the 'old-school' Bangkok tram looks pretty cool... I'm sure the trams are displayed at the museum now.

I hate those trams with the overhead pantograph... it will spoil the city view with all those wires. Aren't there any other type of tram that uses battery, solar or a third-rail that is not visable and safe for the pedestrians ??
