Just a thought ....
In order to encourage use of Skytrain, Metro, SRT, Buses, Taxis and bikes ....
Why don't we suggest two 'NO CAR HOURS' each day ...
7am to 8am, and 6pm to 7pm where you are NOT ALLOWED to drive any private car within Bangkok, or at least Central Bangkok!
This would not really harm car drivers (they can leave early or later or go alternative travel) and it would give buses one hour to get people home!!

Interesting idea, but I guess it will never happen......
Too much resistance by the car users / automobile lobby / mass transit haters!

BTS offered Free Car Day last year with 10 Baht flat fare .... but it did not help much.
There will be a resistance from motorists for sure. And I do not think "they" are going to implement any plan.
Think about BRT routes, some people had just said "NO" before Apirak started to do anything.

Sadly BRT is probably the worse idea he thought of. It cannot work.

I think BRT could work on streets like Rama III, but I agree that th current proposed route will not work.
One major factor is because out of the thee lanes for the road, the 'fast' lane is being blocked off to cars, and the lanes next to the sidewalk on all bangkok streets are considered short term parking lots. This leaves one lane for cars...enough said.

I always think about the commonweath line in Boston. Is it called Green Line? It is the same concept of BRT, but a lot more expensive.
Khun Apirak's idea is not that bad, but they need additional signal for BRT itself. But they are not going to install any!!
It works with any road with enough width. Lad Prao BRT was really a flop (Was it Mrs. Sudarut idea in 1996? together with traffic solutions within 6 months? By .... WE KHOW THIS GUY!!)
Nawamin BRT seems to be practical, but they must not allow conflicts with right turn vehicles. You can see this problem on Naratiwat Road. And whenever there is a jam, motorists point at bus lane, as usual!!
Thai motorists always act by their self-interests. Just like protests against BTS and subway.....they claim the constructions would create traffic chaos!!
BRT may turn out to be good! I hope.

Yeah Khun Nekochan, That ladphrao BRT in 1996 is
REALLY a BIG Flop but OTL still telling a BIG and BLATANT LIE
to the public ...
No wonder that they are now get busy on censoring
the opinions AGAINST BRT on their website ... Telling
a blatent lie to the public while censoring the truth will
only ALIENATE the people ....
For the case of Boston, it is ACTUALLY LRT ... I have
riden it before so I know what it IS.
