Here are some selected, unique driving tips to help you save fuel courtesy of Budget (Thailand) rent-a-car's current quarterly newsletter:
"1. Always fill gas after 10 p.m. or before 9 a.m. as during these times the cool temperature can cause the oil to shrink and be densest, providing us an extra volume of 2%.
5. Drive steadily at the speed of 90 kilometer per hour in order to save the fuel for a car of more than 2.0 liter engine.
6. Drive steadily at the speed of 110 kilometer per hour in order to save the fuel for a car of more than 1.6 liter engine.
8. Slowly reverse the car since the reverse gear consumes more oil than other gears. This is caused by the fact that the reverse gear will use more pulling power and compensation ratio more than other gears.
9. Always check the tire pressures every fortnight and before traveling to other provinces."
It certainly would make life a lot easier if other provinces had the same tire pressures as Bangkok.
