A new bus terminal will be built in Phuket with a budget of 128 million baht
The new bus terminal for Phuket will be built on a 9 rai plot of land opposite the Super Cheap store on Thepkasartri road. It is being developed with 128 million baht budget to enhance capacity and improve the facility of public transport in the tourist resort island to meet international standards. The Deputy Minister of Transport Songsak Thongsri on Saturday visited the site and expects the new facility to ease traffic congestion in the city area. The department is now in a process of seeking contractor bidders and scheduled the construction to be completed by next year. The existing bus terminal is located on a 2 rai plot of land and congested due to traffic amounts and its location in the heart of the city.

BUT!!!:
Apart from visiting the airport, the Deputy Transport Minister on May 25 went to visit the intended site of the island’s second bus station on Thepkrasattri Rd, near Super Cheap in Koh Kaew.
Construction has been delayed because none of the six construction firms who took out plans for the work tendered a bid, which they say underestimates the actual cost of materials.
K. Songsak advised local officials to review the plan and adjust the bid specifications to bring them in line with rising market prices.
