The new Bangalore Airport finally opened on May 24, after a seventeen-year wait and half a dozen false starts this year alone.

The opening day was smooth, but the future remains cloudy: the government is threatening to reopen the old HAL airport in violation of the contract with the new airport's operators, and the new airport is estimated to run out of capacity by the end of... drum roll... 2008. :(
