A certain 'Look Kreung' Entertainment figure with the first name of Steve has apparently made a formal complaint to 'Bangkok's Finest' about harassment by 'the son of a famous politician'. This anonymous person has been invited in to discuss the matter, but has yet to show up.
I forget the exact details of the Duangchalerm case cop-out. Is he currently under some kind of suspended sentence; or has he received parole? Many folk seem to think that this complaint involves Duangchalerm; or whatever he currently calls himself.

Ai Duang Chaloem is now under probation .... and now i think he is in trouble again ....
Well I originally said 'Wanchalerm' and later changed it to 'Duangchalerm'. But it appears it was Wanchalerm Yoobamrung who was involved in an altercation on Thursday night between his 'team' and that of the male model Simon Harris (not 'Steve') at Route 66 Pub on Royal City Avenue (RCA). Wan was reportedly not directly involved, but is said to have 'ordered' the attack. Simon Harris & others were injured. Wan seems to have breached the terms of his two year probation (as of March 2004, for his part in the episode for which his brother Duangchalerm was acquitted of murder) It seems there is some kind of charge outstanding against Wan, which he has only answered by written note. His failure to report at 'the station' is on the grounds of 'illness'. If found guilty, he could face two years jail OR be fined a hefty 4,000 Baht  . The probation order stipulates Wan should not visit 'entertainment spots anywhere in the country.
It seems rather like the Probation Service is trying to slip out of this issue sideways. One probation official is reported to have said that if Wan was at the pub he should confess immediately so that the court could show him mercy by sparing him from prison; and extending his probation instead.
The model's 'team' apparently upset Wan's 'team' by criticising Liverpool FC for losing 1-0 to CSKA Sofia.
Links below suggests Wan did rather more than 'order' the attack:-

It seems Chalerm Yoobamrung (Ee Chalerm) is considering a return to politics with an alternative to the mainstream parties:-
http://nationmultimedia.com/2005/12/28/national/index.php?news=national_19529424.html
“Many people see Thai politics as having reached a dead end,” he said, boasting that his aspiration is to forge an alliance with those alienated from the mainstream political parties.
I think it would be an understatement to say that Ee Chalerm and his sibling thugs have been involved in more than their fair-share of political cul-de-sac construction contracts.
And speaking of other deadenders from the Old 'New Aspiration' Party, it also seems that General Chaovalit has retired from retirement to become one of Taksin's advisors again.

For Ai Loem's sons, they have created too many enemies .... better wear Kevlar Helmets and Bullet Proof Jackets though .... :D
It gets worse! Ee Chalerm was shown being awarded a Doctorate at Ramkhamheang University last night. And judging by the gowns, the two sons were awarded (or have already been awarded) something too. Even mother was gowned up. We shouldn't lose sight of the fact that she used to be a Juvenile Judge. She resigned when the murder case came up. What's the betting she's back at work!? I'm told that some people view the mother as pleasant; but unfortunate in the fact that Ee Chalerm wouldn't tolerate even the slightest hint of discipline around 'my sons'.

The Lerms are also rumored to be moving their political base to Sakhon Nakorn. Presumably, Bangkok folk have priced themselves out of the 'Political Buffoon' Market; whilst SN is a whole new frontier of 'cheap' political opportunity.
Chalerm announces comeback
Published on December 24, 2005
Veteran politician to unveil his ‘New Alternative Party’ next month after receiving doctorate in Political Science. Veteran politician Chalerm Yoobamrung yesterday announced his intention to resume political activities next year. “I plan to unveil my new political home, the New Alternative Party, on January 10,” he said.
Chalerm, seen as a nemesis of Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, said his new party would have the support of outgoing senators, local politicians and government MPs who wanted to defect.
He dismissed speculation that he would contest the senatorial election in April, saying he had set his sights on the next general election after putting his political career on hold in order to complete his graduate studies.
He is scheduled to receive a doctorate degree in Political Science from Ramkhamhaeng University next month.
Chalerm’s announcement drew cautious reaction from MPs of the ruling Thai Rak Thai Party.
MP Sakhon Phrompakdee, of the Wang Nam Yom faction, said Labour Minister Somsak Thep-suthin had urged the Election Commission to cancel the rule requiring candidates to be affiliated to their party for at least 90 days before the polls. Cancellation of the rule would pave the way for MPs to switch party allegiance, Sakhon said, hinting at an attempt by dissatisfied government lawmakers to seek a new party banner.
“It is time to allow greater freedom for MPs to move around,” he said, arguing that the 90-day rule had forced many MPs to condone corruption and vote for bills they disagreed with.
Somsak’s secretary Banyin Tang-arporn said his boss was opposed to the 90-day rule but had no intention of joining Chalerm’s new party.
“Rumours have spread that Wang Nam Yom MPs may form an alliance with Chalerm but this is not true,” he said.
Thai Rak Thai Party secretary-general Suriya Jungrungreangkit said he had not heard anything about a
possible defection to Chalerm’s side.
Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Kreangam said he saw it as impossible for MPs to switch parties, unless the prime minister agreed to allow a lapse of more than 90 days before the polls.
“In Thai political history, no prime minister has ever given advance notice of a snap election,” he said.
2002 article extract from 'The Economist' gives some insight into the Duangchalerm case, although it has become only too obvious that the 'points' system of justice is still very much intact. The last sentence could only have been written by a snowbird:-
http://www.economist.com/surveys/dis...ory_id=1009764
In the 15th century, King Borommatrailokanat, one of King Bhumibol's ancestors, devised a new legal system. He assigned a certain number of points to every profession and rank in the country. An ordinary farmer, for example, scored 25, a minister 10,000, and the heir-apparent 100,000. The outcome of court cases depended on the number of points each of the parties to the dispute could muster. Even five or ten years ago, that system survived broadly unchanged. Decisions were handed down from on high; power was centralised; and the law was a tool of the mighty. But as the constitution redistributes political power, and the after-effects of the financial crash reshape the economy, that is changing. Mr Duangchalerm may still score a few more points than Mr Suvichai—but the difference is narrowing fast.

New Interior Minister apologizes for tainted past, swears to work justly
Newly appointed Minister of Interior Police Captain Chalerm Yoobamrung (เฉลิม อยู่บำรุง) yesterday spoke past the media that he is sorry for his tainted past and flawed family image, alluding to past incidents involving his children. Police Captain Chalerm said that his opportunity to assume the position of interior minister was a blessing that he would work to deserve.
Apart from affirming to reinstate the CEO system created by deposed premier Thaksin Shinawatra, Police Captain Chalerm also outlined three main agenda’s for his ministry. The first is to eradicate the ongoing drug problem, the second, to reinforce criminal laws and third to utilize the sufficiency economy to benefit the elderly and impoverished.
Police Captain Chalerm affirmed that he will work transparently for the betterment of the nation and also assured that no member of his family would take a position in his ministry. He also said that solving the southern unrest was high on his priority list.

In the meantime, Chalerm also seems to have an undiminished enthusiasm for the former PM, which seems to indicate that the old days of politicians of cutting each other a bit of slack have firmly returned. What else would you expect from the man who wants to reintroduce the War on Drugs at a time when we are beset by dozens of examples of policeman becoming even greater rogues than the 'criminal classes' (http://www.angkor.com/2bangkok/2bangkok/forum/showthread.php?goto=newpost&t=2305). The fact that both Chalerm and Thaksin are policemen is hardly irrelevant:
Chalerm says he is ready to welcome Thaksin back
Interior Minster Chalerm Yoobamrung said he would get all prepared in two hours to welcome back former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra if Thaksin gives him a call.
“I believe he will return soon. If he calls me, I’ll tell him to fly back tomorrow but it’s up to his convenience,” Chalerm said.
“But if he has already bought a ticket, he could call me and I’ll make all preparations in two hours. I’ll take one hour to travel to the Suvarnabhumi airport and take another hour to make preparations at the airport.”

Hot on the heels of Ee Lerm's plans for semi-autonomous regions in the Deep South (an idea from a book he has recently read) - that PM Samak shot down in flames in less than 12 hours - is this fantasy project. Doubtless he is also inspired by the Singapore Flyer (http://www.angkor.com/2bangkok/2bangkok/forum/showthread.php?t=2534), the proposed Hong-Kong Spin (http://www.angkor.com/2bangkok/2bangkok/forum/showthread.php?t=2999) and a 'temporary' observation wheel in Malaysia's KL (that is likely to become a permanent fixture).
Is this really an Interior Minister's concern? Wouldn't it be better left to the Minister of Silly Rides? :D
Chalerm to propose BMA to build observation wheel like London Eye
Interior Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung said Friday that he would propose the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration to build a tall observation wheel in the capital like the famous London Eye.
Chalerm, who oversees the BMA, said he would soon hold a meeting with BMA executives and would propose the idea and would offer to seek a budget for it.
He said Rajburana district would be a perfect location for the construction.
London Eye is the world's highest observation wheel which allows tourist to ride in space age capsules holding 25 people each. The wheel is 135 metres high.

Chalerm backs down from special zone proposal
Interior Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung Friday said he would no longer pursue his idea to set up a special administrative zone in the deep South.
He said he did not want to create conflicts regarding to the idea as many people misunderstood that he supported the separation of theregion.
"So, I'll cancel the idea … I know everybody has good intention for the country. I will no longer pursue the idea of special zone but I will try to do everything to bring down the problems in the region," Chalerm said.

I can't believe after all the hard work Thailand has done over the past decade that the Thai mass still allow idiots like our current PM and Interior Minister to still be in the government.
The current government lineup is a sign instead of democracy progressing in Thailand it has regressed backwards ten years.
What have we learned? We have learned that politics in Thailand cannot change no matter how many coups it has. We are only one step away from Thaksin and the old TRT coming back in. The only ones who are missing from the cabinet are Chavalit for Defense Minister, Sudarat for Health Minister and Purachai (whatever happened to him)?
What is the point of the Bangkok eye? Just for the current government to make a landmark that will be over budget and fail to achieve a ROI? So construction costs will be like 1 billion baht because land has to be bought possibly cost hundreds of millions because it has to be bought overpriced by some family member of the TRT (e.g. new southern bus terminal, subway metro stations). The the construction has to be auctioned possibly to front companies with huge kickbacks towards people in the government (e.g. Suvarnabhumi) with ridiculous clauses that a huge majority of the materials have to be bought from local companies overpriced which are possibly owned family members or friends of people in the government that again gives out kickbacks. Then after all of that is done they charge something like 20 baht per person which won't even cover the interest on the construction so the entire project has to be subsidised again and the loan written off. Which will cause the banks the lose even more money straining the economy again.
Wouldn't it be simpler to just fix the roads or finish the mass transit routes in Bangkok easing the traffic. Which would save billions in productive time and fuel to stimulate the economy instead of millions of Bangkokians just sitting in traffic for 4-5 hours a day.
Samark should just stick with his cooking show and become Minister of Thai food regulating the quality of meals and dishes in Thailand while Chalerm should concentrate on proper upbringing of his still adolescent offspring.

Now, the reason for Saphrang Kalayanamit has vcomplained abotu the friends who stabbed his back .. he is refering to Admiral Banawit, a media man, Sondhi Limthongkul, and a woman
Saphrang Kalayanamit went into conflict with the media man on King Power Duty free ... and Admiral Bannawit has applied the way of Slapping and then kissing to Saphrang ... on King Power Duty free Issue.
FUrthermore, there is an incident of reviving ODnmaung for Jeh Leng to run the Duty Free against King Power ....
For the case of 3G, It is Sondhi Limthongkul is goign into conflcit with Saphrang ... since Sindhi want to bring 3G COmpanies from mainland China to run 3G in Thailand ...
However, Papa Prem and Surayut have asked Saphrang nto ot involve with the scandal of 3G and Duty free deal ... so it turned 3 men and a woman to go against Saphrang.
WHen Sondhi Limthongkul is goign AGAINST Saphrang, Saphang use the other media to explain these 2 scandals ... but Sondhi refuse to fighting back ...
Now Admiral Bunawit is goign to be just an aid de camp for politicians,
the second guy is goign to work with SUwat Liptaphanlop and work weith Minister of Energy ...
SOndhi Limthongkul has to hide himself in his shelter since he has made too many enermies ...
The woman is now going back to her home ... since she is too exhaused with political frustration.
// ----------------------------------
Now Ee Sudarat Keyuraphan is askign AI Newin NOT to send his daddy (Chai Chidchob) to be in the cabinate sicne the Scandalous VCD at Buriram could wreck the havoc on PPP ... and give the Ministry polisition for the messenger since he is one of the INNER Circle of Ai Maew .... whcih Ee Sudarat could NOT refuse.:cool::p
The Thaksin comment that the insurgency in the South was little more than the work of small-time mafias made many people all over the South, regardless of religion and other considerations, absolutely livid. It was seen as trivialising a problem that people have been enduring for decades. It seems that Chalerm has now condemned himself to be the next scratchy gramophone record to get continually stuck in the same groove:
Samak warns Chalerm to be less talkative when talking about southern situation
Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej said Friday that Interior Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung should be more careful when making comments in his capacity as the interior minister.
Samak gave the warning after Chalerm said southern insurgents were normal thieves.
Samak said if he met Chalerm, he would warn him to be careful when speaking in public.
"Chalerm may be good at speaking in the House but when he is up here in the position, he needs to train himself. What he can speak down there, cannot be said up here," Samak said.
The Nation

And such a wonderful way to lead into the "inevitable" talks. As I have said before, such facile remarks are even considered offensive by those who have no truck with the insurgency:
Chalerm says talks with insurgents inevitable
Interior Minister Chalerm Yoobamrung said the southern insurgency could not be ended without holding talks with insurgents.
"I dare to say that the problems in the deep South will never be ended unless we hold talks with the insurgents," Chalerm said.
He said the talks would lead to the end of violence and talks are necessary for changing the attitude of the insurgents.

I suppose it would have been better if this report had referred to 'illegal gambling dens', since Chalerm is one of the people in this government who is intent on legalizing the operation of casinos. One might be, thus, forgiven for thinking that he wishes to drive out the small time competition before the big money moves in to monopolize a newly legalized industry. However, it is actually extremely doubtful whether this government will be able to legalize casinos. Too many folks are against it. In that case, Chalerm is trying to make good his rather sorry public image:
Interior Minister to rid Kingdom of casinos
Minister of Interior Police Captain Chalerm Yubamrung revealed that he will meet with administrators and police tomorrow to discuss the eradication of vices throughout the nation. He said that his focus will be on gambling venues and casinos with an aim to have concrete results within 90 days. Police Captain Chalerm issued a warning to people who are still engaged in illegal activities, to return to a just life.
The Interior Minister promised a hard line crack down on all venues with influential people protecting them, affirming that he would use the authority of the National Police Chief as well as the Prime Minister to uproot all organized crime rings. Police Captain Chalerm has set his warning as ministry policy.
Police Captain Chalerm cited several locations where he says reports have shown casinos to be operating, stating that he will deal with the matters personally.
http://thainews.prd.go.th/newsenglish/previewnews.php?news_id=255103160013
But like many Thai politicians, Chalerm is so convinced of his own social worth that he finds it hard to keep a grip on political reality for more than about 5 minutes at a time. The following seems to be yet another example of Chalerm indulging his spiteful and vindictive 'chucklewit' nature to the hilt. The man is incapable of maintaining a good PR image for long:

Interior Minister disapproves request for leave of absence of Bangkok Governor
Minister of Interior Police Captain Chalerm Yubamrung today said he will not approve the request endorsed by Bangkok Governor Apirak Kosayothin for 30 days of leave of absence.
Meanwhile the media has reported from Mr Apirak's recent press conference, saying that he has resigned from his post to abide by Assets Examination Committee (AEC) regulation. Police Captain Chalerm stated that the AEC has only stated that it has implemented the governor, while not submitting the case for prosecution yet. He also said that if Mr. Apirak wishes to show his political spirit, he should fully resign.
Nonetheless, the minister said that he will revise the governor’s request and he may approve it with an alteration to the duration of his absence period. He said he will also use the situation as a precedent for the Prime Minister and the 3 ministers cited in the 2-3 digit lottery case of the AEC.

Remarkable for an always gung-ho ex-policeman who was present at the 1976 massacre and whose sons have a rep for pistol-whippings and being PRESENT when armed crimes take place. (Not to mention the fact that he still seems interested in gunning down folks without first figuring whether they are guilty or not.) But it seems to be different when the other side are capable of shooting back!.
Certainly, this tour is not an easy option - but he might want to comfort himself with the thought that royalty and numerous ministers have undertaken this run on many times unscathed. There have been some near scrapes, but there isn't much precedent for VIPS copping a packet in the region. Unlike numerous policemen, soldiers and civil servants!
After dragging in so many of the security forces to protect him, Chalerm should show them some respect by showing some spine. This government has done a great deal of pulling on the public heartstrings in recent days. We are obviously supposed to view it as an underdog government, when the reality is that it contains many well-established & 'comfortable' members of the elite:
Interior Minister arrives in Songkhla
(BangkokPost.com) – Chalerm Yubamrung has arrived in Hat Yai district in Songkhla province amidst tight security.
The Interior Minister has not been hiding the fact that he is reluctant to visit the restive region for fear of his own life. But Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej is having none of it and has sent the man he’s put in charge of resolving the southern crisis to assess the situation first hand.
Mr Chalerm and his entourage, which also includes his youngest son, Duang[chalerm], will be staying at the BP Samila Beach Hotel in Muang district on Thursday night.
Mr Chalerm will chair a meeting with related security officials based in the region at 10:00am.
This morning, reports described a handful of supporters who showed up with flowers at Hat Yai airport to greet the Interior Minister. Some were holding banners thanking the Interior Ministry for its anti-drug policies.

The following should be welcomed, but it is noticeable that Samak appears to place NO trust in Chalerm NOT to put his foot completely in it:
Interior Minister declares he will speak with insurgents
Minister of Interior Police Captain Chalerm Yubamrung stated that the media is currently projecting a confusing image of his involvement in the resolution of the Southern unrest. The minister clarified that the Prime Minister has temporarily tasked him with the duty of resolving the southern conflict but the issue is still under the control of the Prime Minister.
Police Captain Chalerm revealed that he will travel along with the Interior Ministry Permanent Secretary to meet with insurgent groups in a hands on approach and report their discussions to the premier. He affirmed that his ministry is working to assist the military, which is heading operations for reconciliation in the south.
The Police Captain said that many times in the past the visiting of government officials to the south has been met with more insurgent activities. However, he wishes to meet with the dissidents themselves and continue on with the policy of unity and reconciliation instead. He said that he is in the process of meeting with the groups himself but at the moment cannot reveal any confidential information.

Weekly Commentary by Ekkayut and the Gang - AI Chaloem Issue
AI San Sarutanone had told Ekkayut and the Gang that
1. Ai Duang DID involved in the the case of fagall gunning to Warran Officer Yim at Ratchada Pub in the night of 29 October 2001 .. Ai Duang had to run away to other places to Prevent the Wrath in Khaki Uniform (Police Revenge) until he surrendered with Thai Ambassador in Malaysia ...
WHen Ai Duang flyed back to Thailand, Sa San Sarutanone had to sit along with Ai Duang ...
Before the final vindict form the court was issued on 26 March 2004, Ai Maew had cvalled Ai San and told him that
General San, Just let Ai Duang go .. NO guilty ... Warrant Officer Yim was dead ... and AI Chaloem and I are going to heal the wound for the family of that Warrant Officer Yim ...
Ai San retorted back that
Sir, I could NOT do that ... If I DID, I'll get BURNT by subordinates for the failture to protect their men from beign murdered by children of Politicians with impunity.
Ai Maew rersponsed that:
Don't worry .. I will make the judges say "Case Droped due to Insufficient Evidences"
Ai San retorted back that
Even so, I still could NOT do that! Warrant Officer Yim is My Man!
Ai Maew rersponsed that:
That's it!
After that, Ai San was kicked upstair and when Ai San asked the Head of Supreme Court n 19 March 2004 , the Head of Supreme Court ssaid it is not possible to make the case to have INSUFFICIENT Evidence ... btu the vindict on 26 March 2004 said that "Case Droped due to Insufficent Evidences" and the Police department dais they would not APPEAL for the case of Warant Officer Yim.
This case has upsetted Ai San to the extend that he declined to go back to be Director of Police Department ....
//----------------------------------------------------------
2. When Ai Chaloem is Ministry of Interior, he plotted a REVENGE on Ai San by 2.1 Claiming that Ai San has illegally got the land within forest reserve area in Pakchong, Nakhon Ratchasima .... but this case may backfire to Ai Chaloem since the area next to AI San's area belong to "the Big One" or the Royal Court.
2.2 kicking the eyewithness police for the case of Warrant Offic er Yim from Lumphini Police station to the 3 Southern Province in the same way they have done to the one who accused of Ai yongyut.
Ai San is fighting back by askign 2 Public Prosecutor who had done the case of Warrant Officer Yim to ask if AI maew and Ai CDhaloem DID meddle aroudn with Jurisdical process ...
Furthermore, the case of land in Pakchong could burn Ai Chaloem since it created DILEMMA ... If he DID prosecuse ONLY Ai San's land, he will be criticized for Double Standard ... If he DID prosecure both land plots, he'll face the Royal Wrath which is the last thing ANY politicians would like to confront with ...
3. Furthermore, Ai SChaloem better prepare for the publ;ic scrutinies on his own assets includign
3.1 109 million Baht asset declared to the public - where DID he got 109 million Baht asset? Even he DID OWN the mines in Kanchanaburi, it sitll NOT large enough to cover 109 million Baht asset .. and DID he pay tax from 109 Million Baht asset?
3.2 another 100 Million Baht from King Power Duty Free which Ai Chaloem clam that PAD has extorted from King Power Duty Free and other merchant in Suvannabhum.
3.3 anotehr 100 Million Baht from Sondhi Limthongkul
If AI Chaloem failed to handle Hundreds Million Baht asset case, he will be CONDEMNED as a LIAR ... who keep lying the public
Now, students of Ram Khamhaeng University had said that AI Chaloem got Ph.D. by bribing the Student Organization of Ram Khamhaeng with millions of Baht ... and hire Ram Khamhaeng students to work on Dissertation for him.
Furthermore, Ai Chaloem has Blackmailed Ai maew and PPP men that if they REFUSE to give a seat of Ministry of Interior, he'll give the news about CONSPIRACIES to the media to put them into trouble with Royal Wrath ...
Ai San also betteer told the publci and the Ilegal Land Grabbing by Ee Photjamarn in Korat
