A reader asks: "Does anyone know where I can get current rain data for Bangkok? There are plenty of historical averages etc but nothing current. The Bangkok weather dept site seems hopeless."

Dear Khun,

I am Singaporean. I plan to go to Bangkok's City Centre in September this year. May i know in September, Bangkok's City Centre is experiencing flooding every day ?

Please reply to me at asiaperu@hotmail.com if you can. Thanks.

It has been over a decade since there has been daily flooding in Bangkok--and then it was typically in October. No need to worry about daily September flooding...

Data point from personal experience: last year there was no flooding at all in Bangkok. After heavy rains some of the khlong boats stopped running for a while (they couldn't fit under the bridges anymore!), but that was about it.

Is it true that September is the wettest month of the year in Bangkok city centre ?

Khun Ganyc,

Bangkokinas would worry abotu October flood when the flood from North, the rising tide frm the Gulf and the rainstorm have combined into the major flood in BKK.

Hi, Bangkok,

What is Bangkok's weather like in October 2004 ? Is there flooding ?

November is said to be cool weather in Bangkok. Is it true ?

It's supposed to be rainy season, but it sure hasn't been raining much recently. And don't expect the "cool" season to be much cooler than the Singaporean "winter"...

What was the last time there was real flooding in Bangkok?

Hi, Bangkok,

Is Bangkok's weather turning desert-like with less and less rain and soaring temperatures ? Singapore has been experiencing heavy rainfall in October since two days ago. Heard that El Nino phenomenon is back.
