26/11/2007 -- 10:05 PM
Hong Kong (VNA) – China has officially kicked off construction on a China-ASEAN commercial port in its Yunnan province, a local paper reported on November 26.
China will spend an estimated 8.7 billion renminbi (roughly 1.15 billion USD) into building the new port, which is expeted to become an important commercial trade port, connecting Yunnan , and China as a whole, with the ten ASEAN member nations, according to Shangbao newspaper.
The China-ASEAN port is located in a global delivery centre in Kunming, Yunnan. Upon completion, the port will have four main facilities including an international exposition building, a trade centre, a storage site and a life services area.
