Blimey! Does anyone know if it is yet having any success after being so widely panned for so many years:

Thailand Elite Card Cocktail Party.

At the Montien Hotel in Central Pattaya , the Thailand Privilege Card Company Limited held a showcase event which presented the Thailand Elite Card to foreign residents and Tourists who reside here in Pattaya. The event was well attended by existing members and potential members who were told about the current and future benefits available. The Elite Cards cost 1 Million Baht and entitle users to a special 5 year Multiple Entry Visa which can be renewed every 5 years for life. Other benefits include flight ticket discounts, free golf at selected courses and a VIP Fastrack service at the Suvanabumi Airport in Bangkok . There are many other benefits available and for more information on the Thailand Elite Card you can log on to thailandelite.com or call 02 353 400.

But don't expect fast-track immigration for your 'guests'. One wonders as to whether some folks were abusing this priviledge. Woebetide the thought that VIP farangs might be just as dodgy as the rest of us:

Dear Valued Members,

Due to changes in our country’s security policy, Thailand Elite has no longer been able to offer the fast track immigration service to guests of our members as from the 1st July 2007.

Thailand Elite, a state enterprise, is also required to follow its regulations which are considered as Thai laws. Therefore, please be informed that the fast track immigration in fact is an exclusive privilege for our members only. From now on, your guests may be requested to pass the normal immigration process whereas you will be assisted by our Elite Personal Assistant for fast track immigration.

However, with some flexibility from the Immigration Bureau, your immediate family (wife or husband and children) may still be treated for the fast track immigration together with you only when traveling on the same flight. If there is any change on the service in the future, we ensure that we will inform our Members accordingly.

Thank you for your trust in our service and look forward to servicing you through our Member Contact Centre soon.

Best regards,

Thailand Elite Member Service Team
