This is it. The most outrageously stupid conspiracy theory (don't we love'em) I have come across:

Already heard it? Governments of the world's countries are poisoning/drugging/infecting their citizens with substances sprayed from high flying jet planes! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chemtrails) (As well as influencing the climate.)

Huh? Quite unbelievable what nonsense some people come up with; or how they really have nothing better to do with their time - there are various websites (see links on Wikipedia page) dedicated to alerting us to the purported dangers. :eek:

Rather annoying that it should even be necessary to refute such ridiculous allegations, as anyone in his right mind would just need to think for 5 seconds to see that this is utter BS. Anyway, if you're interested in some very sane counter-arguments, this website (http://www.hans-egebo.dk/skeptic/contrails.htm) does a good job of it, matter-of-factly and without sneer.

So what's your favourite wacky conspiracy theory? Maybe we can collect a few more examples here........

I've always loved the Illuminatus! Trilogy:

Some sample conspiracies include asserting that JFK was assassinated simultaneously by five assassins working for Castro, the Mafia, the FBI, the CIA and the Soviets and that Adam Weishaupt, founder of the Bavarian Illuminati, killed George Washington and took on his identity as President of the United States. Add in lots of sex, drugs and intelligent talking dolphins, and it's easily the craziest book I've ever read :D
