Siam Park City (fun park) to expand

I guess this will come under construction/engineering but with a little difference from the norm.

It was Announced at the recent IAAPA (amusement rides/parks) convention in Atlanta that Siam Park City have purchaced 2 new rollercoasters. If i remember from my visit in 2004 this is park is resonably small and this will be quite a large expansion.

Both have been purchased from a now closed park in Dubai and will stand as Thailands 2 tallest rollercoasters.

It was also announced that Bangkok will hold the 2007 IAAPA Asian Expo which should bring a fair amount of trade.

Currently they only have these few rides (http://www.siamparkcity.com/Amusementpark-eng.htm). Siam City is quite small, old, run-down and unexciting anyway. (Even Dreamworld didn't impress me much either, for that matter.)

They also throw free tickets after you: for example their promo coupons (free entry for one or two persons, discount for additional group members) came with my electricity bill several times over the last 3 years, for whatever reason.

So these rollercoasters might be a welcome addition to the Thai amusement park landscape.

By the way, who's putting them up? Can we believe in our safety? :cool:

The rides are built by Vekoma. A large Dutch Firm who has installations all over the world. In fact they build both space mountain and hanging coaster at dream world. They have a superb safety record so you should be in good hands :)

Maybe with the new Wonder World park opening just down the road Siam are feeling the competition a bit now?
