Bangkok in the not too distant future (ok I haven't put real serious thoughts into this sketch.. it's all seems like a good idea at the time) :D

It looks very much like the Hopewell project.

yeh that's Hopewell alright.. but also if you look closely next to that Hopewell structure I added another lane for rollercoaster trips (since traffic jam on elevated tollways could be as boring as traffic jam on the street). ok I wasn't really serious about this idea...

And I thought that religious messages on billboards were going to be commonplace in the near future in Bangkok.

I like the rollercoaster idea very much though. It would make commuting fun anyway.

Did you intend to write "Build artificial plateau over slums" to hide them from view, or is it some kind of sick joke?

I respect your opinion.. but its not somekind of sick joke. It's called 'IRONY'. But please take no offence because my sketch is not somekind of govt propraganda you see in newspaper + magazine and Billboards. It's not the Amazing Thailand kudos.
It's supposed to take serious urban issues in a light hearted view.

The reason I started the thread is so people can share (offload) their views + opinions about what can be done to improve this Beautiful City of ours. I like many people here want to see changes and we live a free participatory democracy. I didn't meant it to add to more hopelessness (and I'm quite an optimistic person  )

I understand the sketch might not be all self explanatory. Well I made this sketch five years ago.. was feeling pretty inspired at the time (hey I was just started secod year of uni studying urban planning). It was an idea, an unrefined thoughts I had in mind:

What to do with the masses of Billboards
Should we keep building elevated tollways that'll never have enough lanes to fit more cars
How to stop urban sprawl
How to stop segregation between the haves and have nots
etc

If you can't see the irony in this building plateau over slum business then thats ok. But I want to make clear no pun intended. I was born and raised in Bangkok and am proud Bangkokian at heart.

But now ask yourself why the govt is now spending millions of Baht trying to make Khlong Toey more pleasant by putting up iron barriers around these community close to the Sirikit Convention Centre. Isn't it to impress APEC delegates for a couple of week in October? do we call that a stop gap measure?
Do you have and would you like to contribute ideas?

Hope i didnt offend you by my previous comment. In retrospect it does seem kind of harsh. But thanks for your explanation...
