I've read the Story of Mr. J.A.N. Patijn about his voyage in 1902 from Bangkok-Korat and further to Saigon. South of Dong Rek, the old Cambodg. province, he travelled to Bo Rong Rang wher a dutch fellow was working for a goldmine Company Watana, looking for gold. Is there somthing more Known?
During his voyage he bought a chicken for One copper "Pe", an old coin.
Unknown to me, this "Pe".
In 1902: 59 visitors for Angkor Vat!!!

Well, there was a gold mine in kabin Buri though ... when the gold mine was operatign aroudn 1877-1878, the miners got gold at the size of a coconut each day ... However, there was little gold .... so the mine at Kabinbuti ceased to operate soon ... :(
