In this area, it is usually quite acceptable to poke a bit of gentle fun at Bangkok politicians. As I was pointing at a Thai Raht picture of Khun Samak in just this manner this morning, the owner informed me in a very jocular way that it was 'King Kong'. This does seem a very apt nickname; although I also love the more traditional 'Jamuk Chompoo' (Literally 'Java Apple Snout').

I think it might help out-of-country readers to know a few more political nicknames, to help their decoding of local political columns.

Taksin's son has the nickname Oak, right? Also seem to remember that a Thai comedy movie had to withdraw the name Oak for one of its characters.Could the following give some indication of where the name 'Ample Rich' came from? http://www.felixdennis.com/frontpage.php?varid=14
Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Embrazées 2001, Bernard Morey
Larger than life, expansive, jovial, keenly intelligent, Bernard Morey makes wines very much in his own image. Ample, rich and oaky with apricot honey and pepper notes, juicy and hugely stylish.

And while we are at it, here's the official linker to the British Virgin Islands. (Bit of a contradiction that!) Motto = Nature's Little Secrets - "The secret that has to be told"
