An excellent article here (http://www.netherlandsnavy.nl/Special_forcez.htm) on those first few days of WW2 and the Japanese invasion of Thailand and Malaya.
Detailed references to the Japanese ships that took part in the invasions, the capture of several freighters sailing from Bangkok and the flight over Bangkok by 20 Japanese aircraft resulting in the loss of 3 RTAF aircraft.
Also goes into detail of the somewhat futile efforts by the US, British and Dutch naval operations to counter the Japanese Navy, and the loss of Repulse and Prince of Wales.
