Oh yes, judging from the photo it seems Thai democracy is knee-deep in sh...., I mean, water. :( :eek:

Just had a chat with my father who is temporarily residing in the Netherlands...

He was 4 at the time of the floods. Said that people had to get around in boats, and one of his cousins who was a teenager at the time cobbled up together some metal sheets (the type used to build today's shanties) and made a boat out of it. They and a group of friends had some fun before the boat capsised while they were travelling along a canal - dad couldn't swim at the time and was only saved by his cousin's strong grip.

Mused on how lucky he was that his family was living on the top floor/roof deck of a shabby hong-taew and thus wasn't so badly affected.

Also mentioned that it wasn't all that bad, considering that the waters were a whole lot cleaner.
