While Bangkok and KL continue their never-ending debates about whether taxi fares should rise, Singapore goes ahead and does it:

The telephone booking fee has now leapt up from S$2.40 to S$4 during rush hour (when you most need to book) but down to S$2 outside rush hour (when you usually don't). Note the two main components of the taxi fare, the starting fee and the fee per distance, remain unchanged so I'm not sure this will help cabbies' income all that much...
